Bagan is probably one of the most incredible places I have ever visited.
We arrived in Bagan via overnight bus from Nyaung Shwe and were picked up by the people of Saw Nyein San Guest House. The guesthouse offers e-bikes for rent and the staff gave us tips where to see the best sunrises and sunsets. From Nyein San Guest House, it’s a 10 minute bike ride before you start feeling like you are in a Lara Croft movie. Left and right of the road, there are temples and ruins as far as the eye can see. Impossible to see them all, as apparently, there were over 10.000 temples during the 11th and 13th century, many of which have been ruined unfortunately. Nevertheless, some have been spared from the test of time and can still be visited. The cherry on top of the cake, however, is climbing one of the temples and staying there to see the sunset or sunrise.
