Kingdom of Sukhothai

After our elephant and cooking adventures in Chiang Mai, we were headed back south again – to Sukhothai; ancient capital of the first Kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 14th centuries. There are many ruins across the almost 7,000 ha of ground, but the most impressive are located an easy bike ride from each other. We stayed at Wake Up @ Muang Kao Boutique hotel, only a few meters from the main entrance gate of the park and rented a bike just around the corner from the hotel.

The highlights for us were the immense buddha statue at Wat Si Chum and the sunset over Wat Mahathatsukhothai_21946314065_o
