Discoveries in Strasbourg

As I am venturing into my adult life – you know; organizing your bank accounts, your health insurance, the electricity, the water bill, your phone subscription, your internet and finding an appartment that doesn’t involve rats or funghi -, I have also had the time to explore Strasbourg and discover chique and trendy hangouts.

A few of my favourites so far:

Its walls covered with French proverbs, “Mémé dans les Orties” is great for an afternoon of kickering, beer-drinking and practicing your French by wifi’ing all of those proverbs on the walls. The food is good, the atmosphere is cozy and the prices are quite unbeatable.

For fresh pizza’s and trendy decor, try Square at Place Kléber.
12 rue du vieux marché aux grainsFullSizeRenderA bit hidden between a hotel and a fitness, two minutes away from the studenty Place du Marché Gayot, this tiny romantic bistro is the place to be for those who love pastries and hot chocolate with a decent scoop of whipped cream, caramel and hazelnut. Bistrot et Chocolat is hip but romantic with a touch of nostalgia.
8 rue de la râpe

FullSizeRender_2Cheese lovers unit; La Cloche à la Fromage offers a great variety of raclette, different kinds of fondue (with wine or beer) and cheese plates. Try the fondue à la Munster and experience a cheese food coma. A bit pricy, but totally worth it.

Into the non-food section then.

Brocante Chez Fred is tiny and hidden on Boulevard de Nancy, but worth a visit if you are into seeking out the nostalgic. 2015-08-16 15.37.22

Up for an enchanting swim? Try the Bains Municipaux, built and made public in 1908. The construction is still largely the same as the one in 1908 and has two pools, saunas and hammams. 2015-07-09 19.19.032015-07-09 19.16.54
