Geneva is a great base from which to start your explorations to other cities. Annecy in neighbouring France is only a short bus ride and easy day trip from Geneva. Things to see: Palais de l’Isle, the Château d’Annecy and the peculiar flee market in the city centre.
Lausanne and Montreux are also a very short train ride away, passing vineyards, yachts and loads and loads of swans.
A bit further but equally worth the visit are Bern and Gruyères.
In Gruyères, do go to the HR Giger Bar and cross that off your ‘must do bars’ list.
And then of course, let’s not forget: Chamonix! Situated near the massive peaks of most notably the Aguille du Midi and the Mont Blanc. Chamonix is one of the oldest ski resorts in France and also the site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924. The village is loved by mountain enthusiasts of all types. There are great skiing facilities and if you aren’t a big skiing fan, there are some really nice hikes as well and other activities like paragliding and eating crêpes!
