You can not live in Mexico City and not visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul. And how wonderfully Azul it is. The museum is the house where Frida Kahlo spent her life and lived with her husband, also famous artist Diego Rivera. The museum has loads of Frida’s artwork, folk art and personal mementos. Walking through the house feels like being in one of Frida’s artworks.
Another great part of the city is the Centro Historico, focused on the Zocalo or main plaza and extending in all directions. The plaza is used for big events, protests and on this particular day…celebrating Mexico’s victory over Brazil in the Olympic Games!

Pato and I were invited to a wedding in Guadalajara and so on Friday afternoon, I jumped on the bus heading towards GDL. A 7-hour ride, with only Spanish dubbed movies and a nun sitting next to me, I was happy to finally arrive in GDL, eat some tacos and drink some beers.
Saturday, I was super excited because I had never gone to a wedding before! So, I got my hair done, some make-up, nice dress, nice shoes, the whole package! Alas, the Mexican rain gods were against us! Half an hour into the drive, it started raining cats and dogs and the streets turned into rivers.

After the rain had passed, and all the water had finally disappeared, we were off to the wedding, straight to the party! The party was great, lots of music, lots of food and especially…lots of tequila!
But great parties have to end sometime and so on Sunday, I went back to Mexico City. By plane, this time. It only took me 45 minutes, the same amount of time it took me to take the metro from the airport to my apartment! Crazy stuff, this Mexican traffic!
